Black Caucus Foundation Mission Statement

The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus Foundation is a non-profit corporation created for the purpose of promoting public policy by encouraging the interaction of the community with legislators and members of government at all levels.

The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus Foundation shall, through the collaborative effort of legislators, business leaders and community leaders, hold public forums, sponsor seminars, provide scholarships and work to empower New Jersey’s neglected citizens.

The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus Foundation shall work diligently to be ardent advocates of issues that disproportionately affect the quality of life, including the civil and human rights of all people.

The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus Foundation for which the Corporation is organized is to engage in any lawful act or activity for which a corporation may be organized including, but lot limited to, research and promotion of public policy. In furtherance of this purpose the Corporation shall:

  • Provide educational and recreational activities for the community
  • Organize and promote collaboration amongst legislators, business leaders and organizational leaders
  • Provide scholarship and internship opportunities for students
  • Sponsor seminars to educate the community on legislative policy
  • Create forums and opportunities to explore and to allow for the exchange of multiple perspectives confronting the Black community in particular and the community at large in general

The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus' Statement of Commitment

The members of the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus are committed to:

  • Being a unified legislative voice for the black community in New Jersey.
  • Promulgating, promoting and implementing legislation and policies that creates a better quality of life for the Black Caucus constituents in New Jersey.
  • Standing for change and denial of legislation and policies that negatively impacts the quality of life for the Black Caucus constituents in New Jersey
  • Promulgating, promoting and implementing legislation and policies which will allow all of New Jersey's citizens just, fair and equal treatment; fair and open access to a free quality public education and equal economic opportunities for minorities and women employment and businesses.
  • Organizing and creating a system for networking and partnering with elected officials, faith-based and community organizations, businesses and education institutions to assist the caucus members in researching and analyzing issues of concern to the black community; and to keep the public informed of issues and policies that affect the New Jersey's black community in particular.
  • Developing, organizing and implementing community-based meetings, programs and . forums for the dissemination of infmmation.
